"Everything I Touch is a Success"; How to redefine success with the New Moon in Capricorn.

Updated: 4 days ago

That's this week's mantra, and truthfully, the mantra for the next couple of weeks thanks to the New Moon in Capricorn. I say that because for the last two weeks, when I've pulled a card to connect to the collective energy, that is the message that comes through.

White motivational text on a dark blue background reads: "I now establish a new awareness of success..." Signed "Louise Hay."
Embracing a new mindset, I step into abundance and success, as opportunities and prosperity flow effortlessly my way.

So much of how we view success has been dictated by consumer culture and capitalism. What was defined as success back in the days of our grandfathers and grandmothers still defines success today, in spite of years of advancement. This seems to be one structural system that just won't go away. Yet, I believe we are moving into a future where the idea of success wont be measured by the number in our bank account or the car we drive. It will be measured in how we use our resources to benefit the greater

good.

However, I think at the root of this "success" , that society has been transfixed on for so long, is what people are actually craving: security. Physical, tangible security. We live in a wildly unpredictable world—wars, shootings, starvation, climate change, the trafficking of global resources including people. It doesn't seem to end, and it's natural for our meager human brains to want to cling to something that feels controllable, measurable, and dare I say, predictable.

But what does it mean to be "successful," and whose definition is it? My definition of success can vary widely from someone else's, and that definition is based on the individual's lived experience. Which is why the New Moon in Capricorn is giving us a chance to set intentions based on OUR INDIVIDUAL EXPRESSION OF SUCCESS.

New Moons are new opportunities or blank slates—an energetic opportunity to plant seeds for what we want to see come to fruition based upon the qualities and themes of the sign it's in. The New Moon on January 19th, 2026, will be within the sign of Capricorn, the sign that governs longevity, success, and long-term achievement. It also governs themes such as banking systems, government systems, and systems of authority.

Capricorn: Emblem of Discipline, Ambition, Determination, and Endurance.

Capricorn is grounded, measured, goal-oriented, ambitious, and formidable. It is Cardinal (how it does what it does) Earth (what it does). It is the initiating force of any goal we set. So with this energy around the New Moon, we are being asked: "What does success really look like to me?"

In 2008, Pluto, the planet of shadows, power, control, and destruction, slowly began to reveal where the structural systems that upheld the society we knew had become corrupted by the desires of men. Aside from the New Moon of December 30th, 2024, this is one of the first New Moons in Capricorn that is NOT influenced by the crumbling tower of capitalism. Which means that the ideals or vision of success that we tried to measure up to for so long no longer hold their weight. We are stepping into a new era where success becomes much more individualistic, much more soul-centered, and grounded in "what benefits me must also benefit the collective good."

So between now and the New Moon is an opportunity to discover what success looks like and feels like for YOU—not society, not your family, not the culture, but YOU. Then set your intentions and goals based on that ideal.
